The new-look squad featuring William "draken" Sundin took the title after losing just one map across the event.
Into the Breach lifted the trophy in Helsinki, Finland, with a near-flawless run on their LAN debut. The British-Swedish combine beat ENCE Academy and VISU in the group stage, before dispatching of HAVU and JANO on their way to lifting the trophy and claiming the ~$7,000 first-place prize.
The title is an encouraging start for the roster, who have recently added the Swedish duo of Alfred "RuStY" Karlsson and draken after a period of instability, which forced the squad to play with several stand-ins, such as Thomas "Thomas" Utting and Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk, while Owen "smooya" Butterfield briefly joined the team on a trial basis in March.
In the grand final, Into the Breach went up against the JANO team in what was a marathon series with the first two maps going into overtime. The final map was a more straightforward affair, as Into the Breach managed to close out the series on Inferno with a 16-5 scoreline after a rampant offensive side that delivered them 11 rounds.
New addition draken was the winners' best performer across the entire event alongside Cai "CYPHER" Watson, averaging a 1.19 rating across the seven maps played. The Swedish sniper particularly impressed in the semi-final against HAVU, where he put up impressive numbers, resulting in a +20 K/D ratio across the two map series.
On the other finalists' side, it was veteran Aleksi "allu" Jalli who had the best numbers up to the grand final, but ultimately failed to live up to the incredibly high standards he set earlier in the event as his team bowed out of the event in second place.
